Inconsistancy in Pens?

Friday, July 30th, 2004

Is there a possiblity that the byetta dosages could vary from one pen
to another of the same dose? I started on the 5 pin and was doing
great! No sickness, marked appetite suppression, and good blood sugar
control. My doctor decided to keep me on the 5 pen for another month
due to my incredible results. My second 5 pen made me sick
immediately! Every time I take my dose I am nausious and sick most
the day. My appetite has returned to haunt me and my blood sugars are
all over the map. One day I’m feeling great and literally the next
day on the new pen I feel like crap. What gives? Anyone else
experiencing the same when starting a new pen at the same dosage?

Copy & Paste Function

First off, you’ll be glad to learn copying and pasting is easy. You
can
copy and paste just about anything your little heart desires: text,
web
pages, files, pictures, you name it. The idea behind the process is
to
take information from one place and deposit it into another.

For an example, let’s pretend you’re working in a word processor and
need to copy and paste a section of your document into an e-mail.
Here’s
how:

Just to introduce myself

Sunday, July 25th, 2004

Hi -

Just want to introduce myself. I am a Type 2 dx in 2001 with an A1c of
15 in ketoacidosis due to a UTI. (ouch!) I had hypoglycemia for most of
my life. I was on insulin for two years, and then went on to taking
only Glucophage XR for the last three years, plus low carbing and
exercising. I just started Byetta yesterday and so far so good. My A1c
is ok,(5.3) and I"m average weight, but I wanted a little more variety
in my diet. To stay at a 5.3, I cannot eat any carbs at all until about
3pm. I was worried about not getting enough fiber in my diet and it was
getting awfully boring only being able to eat 5 blueberries at a time!
Since yesterday, my BG has hovered around 85 for most of the day. The
only reaction I’ve had so far is chills, and I’ve been sipping ginger
tea just in case.
I am so excited to find this group. I hope I’ll be able to contribute

not starting the 10 pen today

Friday, July 23rd, 2004

last night i lowered my lantus dose to 40 (was at 60, down from 80 3 weeks
ago). figured i be a bit high this morning so could start the 10 pen. i was
109 at 6 am! yesterday, i spent the better part of the morning to early
afternoon shopping (i consider that exercise). had grandson with me from 9
am until after midnight and in between him napping (4 months old so he naps
a lot) we went for a mile walk, rocked quite a bit, etc. i ate what i
normally eat with 1 exception. instead of just a sugar free popcycle for an
afternoon snack, i also had about a cup of low carb ice cream around 10 pm.

all i could think about this morning was my doctor and how he said he didn’t
want me on the 10 pen! i wondered if i would go too low today since i plan
on shampooing carpets and rugs all day. and then i wondered if the doctor
practices voodoo and this was one of those he’s going to be right whether i
like it or not. lol

first week on the 10 mcg pen

Wednesday, July 21st, 2004

The first month on the Byetta 5 mcg pen, I lost 8 pounds. Now I am in the
2nd day of the 10 mcg pen. This morning I had a piece of toast and 2 poached
eggs for breakfast, then I had a small tossed salad for lunch. We went to
Old Country Buffet for dinner and I just took one small plate of food and ended
up giving half of it to my husband. Well, its now 6 hours later and I feel
like I ate an elephant! I will definitely eat much lighter tomorrow! Janet

fight with dr today

Monday, July 19th, 2004

like i said, most specialists have a God complex! went to see my God today
and told him i needed a 3 month script for the 10 pen. since i didn’t have
an appointment, they told me to wait a few and they’d get the script. so i
asked if i could weigh and found out i have lost 26 pounds since april 24th.
not too bad!

but back to dr. i get script, walk to my car, look at script and it’s says
the 5 pen. i go back inside and find out that he wants me to stay on 5 pen.
they said i could talk to him so i said that byetta says to go to the 10 pen
after 1 month as does the pharmacist. turns out that the receptionists hubby
went to the 10 and got some serious lows so i guess dr isn’t going to let
anyone have the 10 pen.

i argued with him for about 5 minutes and promised him that i was going to
test 8 times a day and would be careful. he finally relented cause he knows

DOCTORS APPOINTMENT

Saturday, July 17th, 2004

I went to see my diabetes specialist yesterday. He had some good news
for me. Before I started byette I weighed 305. nt auc was 11.2. I have
lost 11 pounds and my aic is 9.5. I still have a long way to go but at
least I am headed in the right direction.
I also told him that about two to two and a half hours after I eat I
want a snack. He told me that my Amaryl could be making me hungry. I
took it before I ate today and did much better. I only ate half of
what I have been eating for lunch.
I have been having problems walking. My back hurts really bad when it
rains. I decided to get up early and try to walk a little bit. I took
my dog that has arthritis in her spine with me and be walked 2 blocks
up and 2 blocks back. I am going to try to do that for a couple of
days and then try for that 3rd block. My goal is to get up to 5
blocks. That way I can walk to the gas station to get my morning paper
and diet soda!!!! Susan
