raised blood sugars
I’ve been on Byetta since August. I had been doing very well,
especially after the first of the year. But I travelled a lot in March
and April was busy with family functions. My blood sugars got really
high………over 200 many times.
I’m wondering if it is just because I have not been eating as well as I
should, or if it is possible for the positive effects of Byetta to
decline? I’m not noticing a rapid reduction in my numbers since I am
being more careful about what I eat, but I also have not been THAT
careful.
Any thoughts?

My personal take on the BG thing is that what I put in my mouth has a direct
correlation to my BG, even with Byetta. I cannot tolerate carbs as others do.
I do not know, but it is possible that you have a simliar carb intolerance. Are
you food logging everything that goes into your mouth to find out how many carbs
you are eating? You might be surprised how many sneak in when we are not
watching closely. I know that I slip when I do not log foods.
Just a thought…

Debbie, my bg can vary depending on what I eat. Saturday, I did a
10-mile hike (survived!), which I wouldn’t have thought of undertaking
before byetta came into my life. But I had more carbs than I should, and
didn’t test until this morning. After Mom’s Day meal, I woke up to 150.
Yikes! I hadn’t been that high since pre-byetta. I wonder, though, if I
inadvertently froze the pen, or it’s potency is in question since I’m
almost at the end. Will know in an hour when I test again. I may have to
hit with humalog to get it down to 100.
