byetta, weight loss, surgery

The reason the folk who have surgery and have their diabetes reversed is
because the methods used prompt a great boost in their own glp-1, which
byetta mimics. Not all who have surgery have the outcome, it is mostly
those who have some form of bypass where the food is introduced lower into
the gut system where it prompts the greater then normal glp-1 production
from the cells there that produce it.

I would not cease using byetta after weight loss. In all diabetics, even
type 1, glp-1 and another similar hormone have their production out of
wack. But the most compelling reason is that byetta and glp-1 protect beta
cells and there is great reason to think that at higher levels then a
diabetic produces it can produce greater amounts of beta cell mass by
prompting greater growth to overcome a diabetics greater loss.

Diabetes is in one sense a race between existing beta cells and the rate at

which they are being destroyed. Lower numbers in the normal region help
and avoiding saturated fat sources help and weight loss helps and exercise
helps but even then our glp-1 production is too low and the race is against
us. Losing weight alone is not the answer.

I feel that in so me cases yes - it can, you can get to a point where
you will no longer have Type 2 diabetes - however it is also based on
how hard you work at it, have you changed your eating habits, and
exercising regularly? There are people who have had it long enough,
that this will help their diabetes be more managable, but it may not
    go away all together.

"Do you think you can truly reverse diabetes?"

Yes, not cure but reverse the effects that arise over time because of it.
The usual effects as measured by the usual numbers tested for in diabetics
as to weight, lipids, glucose, physical activity level, bp, etc. can be
delt with and the effect greatly reversed toward the normal range. Having
weight and glucose numbers within the normal range have the greatest bang
for the buck in this regard as an overal lifestyle change approach with
meds as needed. There are people who no longer have diabetic numbers per
the usual measures. and I would say their diabetes has been reversed.
