feeling of fullness with Byetta

I started on the 5 mcg twice a day dose of Byetta 12 days ago. At first I
felt full nearly all of the time, wasn’t hungry very often, and ate a lot
less. I had no cravings for sweets or high carb foods. Now after only 12 days
my appetite is coming back and I feel hungrier again. I also no longer feel
the same fullness after eating as I did at first. Because of that, I have
eaten more the past few days and probably have canceled out any weight I lost
at
first. I have had no side effects from the Byetta except for some bloating
at first which has gone away. My blood sugars during the day are fine but
the fasting ones have not come down any on the Byetta and have sometimes gone
up a little compared to before. Besides the Byetta, I am on 1000 mg of
metformin twice a day. The amount was doubled from 500 twice a day just before
I
started on Byetta because my A1c test had gone from 6.3 to 7.2 in just 3
months after I had been diagnosed with diabetes. My diagnosis was 4 months

ago.
The doctor plans to switch me to 10 mcg of Byetta twice a day after a month
on the 5 mcg dosage. I hope that will again make me feel full longer after
meals and less hungry too. And I hope it will bring down my morning blood
sugars. They are usually between 100 and 120 but sometimes creep up to 122.
Four months ago without medication my fasting blood sugar was 116. Now with
metformin and Byetta and having lost 28 pounds it is sometimes 122. I expected
it to go down rather than up. I didn’t expect the disease to progress that
fast. Janet

My approach to hunger is hoodia. If I am experiencing inappropriate hunger I
take 1000 mg of hoodia gordonii a day, usually around noon. I have a friend who
uses the under the tongue spray 3 times a day. It is asserted to help 85% of
people who use it. I need only a 1000 mg capsule. Some people use more. YMMV

I have to differentiate between appetite and hunger. <s>

Inappropriate hunger is when you have just eaten dinner and 1/2 hour later you
are hungry. Inappropriate hunger is when you think you are hungry but you have
eaten enough for yourself and someone else as well. Inappropriate hunger is
generally emotional hunger triggered by a bored brain that wants some
stimulation spurred on by insulin resistance.

A friend of mine genuinely believed all of her hunger was actual hunger until
she started byetta and realized how much was actually emotional eating.
Inappropriate hunger besides emotional eating is when your body thinks it is
starving right after a meal because of the messed up blood insulin levels.

Hoodia can stop the hunger, but it can’t stop the emotional eating. Emotional
eating needs something else - EFT, NLP, hypnotherapy - something to disconnect
the association of comfort or stimulation from food. Notice, we never yearn for
a steak, it is always carb-laden food that we associate with comfort or

    stimulation.

    Cheers!
