Hi there.. My name is Becca. I dont think I have intro’d before. So here
goes…I am a sahm to nine children full time. They range in age from 5-15. 6
girls 3 boys. I am a type 2 diabetic (I think).. I was diagnosed March 13, 2005.
It has been an uphill battle as all of you know. I started on Byetta two weeks
ago. I am soooooo sick. My blood sugars are MUCHO better. But I spend most of my
mornings getting sick. I don’t just get nauseaus. I get SICK! And it rarely
happens in the evenings. I am wondering how long this will last. I have spent so
much time being sick over the past year. UGH! I am hoping I will be healthy at
some point. LOL! I am also taking Metformin 2000 mg and Armour Thyroid 1/2 gr.
daily. I am on a sliding scale with insulin. (If my sugar goes too high I take a
shot) I am pretty frustrated at this point. Summer is coming and the kids will
be out of school I can’t imagine being sick all day while they are all home. Any
advice? I wait 15 minutes after taking the injection to eat. And I eat lightly.
What do you all eat after taking the injection??? Thanks for listening!!

Increasing BS after 2 hours

Monday, May 31st, 2004

I have been using Byetta since it first came available. The problem
that I am having now seems to be getting worse and I am just wondering
if anyone else here experiences this and what do you do? Two hours
after I eat my BS is at a good level after injecting Byetta, usually
around 125. But after 2 hours it starts rising and goes way up. For
instance, last night I was 105 after dinner and 165 at bedtime. I am
not snacking. This happens every night. The only way I can stop the
rise is to start injecting Novolog. Kat

Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] need advice please

Friday, May 28th, 2004

Jodi,

I am so sorry to hear about your dog. I am an animal lover and I have
2 yorkies and 1 jack russell we rescued.
I do not know the answer to your question about the byetta. If it were
me I probably would take it, because my numbers are still high. I
would watch your levels though because the stress could raise your
sugar. You are in my thoughts. Take care.

Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] Sites for Injection for Women

Thursday, May 27th, 2004

I was shown to make a fist and place my fist at my belly button. I was
told to inject starting on one side and then moving gradually over to
the other side. Although I do not like to inject in the middle. Just
a psychological thing. Hope it helps.

Vitamin D links

Sunday, May 23rd, 2004

The best way to research things like vitamin D supplementation is to use google
under searches like: vitamin d3 50,000 diabetes osteporosis

Note: D3 is the best supplement. D2 is not as easily made bioavailable. I did
not include those learned discussions in this list.

I was unable to locate the journal article regarding osteoporosis, better
walking for the elderly, correction of bone loss, etc. that I gave to my doctor,
last week, but it is out there. It was a group of endos who did a medical study
and were convinced vitamin d3 supplmentation in doses of 50,000 IU were
appropriate.

Here are links that even the most dedicated science guy or gal should have few
problems accepting as valid. There are a great deal more out there. One I
found on a naturopathic site, which I did not include, cited using doses of

Question on flying

Saturday, May 22nd, 2004

Hello. OK, here’s the problem lol, I’m wondering how flying across country
from Calif to PA (pittsburg) its about am 8 hour flight with the time
differences, would affect diabetes. I’ve heard from some its really screwed
them up, other are fine. Whats YOUR opinion.

my blood sugars have been screwing up the past couple of weeks. I’m on 500
metformin ER in the morning and 1500 in the evening. Also Byetta 10 mcg
twice daily also. The Dr had me on Amaryl but we’re playing with the dose as
he feels that was the problem. The problem is I don’t because when I’d
stopped it last week it didn’t make any difference. So, I’ve done 1 mg in
the morning none at night etc. no difference.
I’m going down after dinner. Yea I know, weird. But I can start with a 110
or so, and have say a pork chop with some pasta shells and spinach, or a low
carb tortilla and some hamburger meat, refried beans and cheese, sour cream
and a salad, or steak and acorn squash and a yam and in an hour I’m anywhere

Uh oh.. I made a boo boo.. when should I take my byetta now?

Thursday, May 20th, 2004

How long should you wait, after having a snack, so take your byetta
and then have dinner?

I had a meeting to go to tonight, and my hubby will be home soon.. but
dinner isn’t ready, and I was hungry.. I had skipped my lunch (tsk
tsk).. so I had a snack, and then realized ugh, I hadn’t taken my
byetta. How long should I wait? 1 hour? more?

What have you heard from your doctor on this?

Thanks!
