<description>i agree that i am jumping the gun. i shouldn't have eaten the orange but
i've had so many weird lows at night in the past that i freaked. also had
this horrible taste in my mouth that wouldn't go away even with mouthwash
and brushing.

just getting over being sick and still have the pleurisy :( so my numbers
are a bit high from that too. i realize that i can't cut out insulin yet. i
may never be able to. but i am experimenting for now to see what i can and
can't do.

i won't be eating anything tonight.

i was just chatting with future s-i-l and he asked how i felt today. it's
kinda like i have the flu. tired, achy, cold, icky in general...no appetite.
i'm sure it's the byetta. the pleurisy only causes me pain when i sneeze or
&lt;!--more--&gt;
cough.

Jodi stated
so at 10 pm i was at 194 took 40 units of lantus and ate an orange
at 2 am i was 200
at 6:30 am this morning i was at 152

If you hadnt eaten the orange you probably would have been at 152 at
2am and maybe 120 by 630. If my numbers are over 150 I dont eat
anything before bed. Actually if they are over 120 I dont, but thats
me. You wont go low starting out that high with just lantus onboard.
The orange has a lot of fruit sugar which boosts the numbers fast.
Maybe you need to keep your original dose of lantus for awhile til you
see how the byetta is going to affect your numbers. Just because some
lower their dose doesnt mean you will have to. Some have high fasting
numbers with byetta and need the basal to help keep them under
control. Sounds like you might be one of those, at least in the
beginning.

Walk in Peace
