more numbers
so at 10 pm i was at 194 took 40 units of lantus and ate an orange
at 2 am i was 200
at 6:30 am this morning i was at 152
my lantus dose is now at 50% of what is was pre byetta. not any difference
from just taking 60 units yesterday. the only real change is that i took
lantus at bedtime rather than 5 pm like usual.
not great numbers yet but i suspect that they will go down even more today.
i can’t believe that i still have no appetite!!! it looks like the only bad
thing is being tired. i was ready for another nap after i shot the supper
dose but the baby was coming so i stayed up till 11 last night.
i am wondering about the glucophage i take though. it’s 1500 mg at breakfast
and 1000 at supper. since lantus is supposed to have a peak at about 6 hours
and the glucophage should have been well kicked in by then, why weren’t my
numbers lower last night?

jodi, you may need to look at your carb counts. they
seem a little on the high side, but then i limit mine
to 20/day.(they may be just fine for you though, just
might want to consider)

hmmm…i thought they were low. i ate the orange out of fear of a nighttime
low with taking the lantus at bedtime.
i just got back from neighbor’s house and he gave me a push mower. the kind
that uses no gas or electric. we couldn’t use anything but a rider for the
yard since we have 3 oversized house lots but i just did the kennel with it
and the kennel is 2 12 by 20 kennels attached together and then attached to
the back porch so it’s even bigger b/c 2 sides of the porch are their own
walls.
and you know what? i feel energized!!! my chuhuahua is thrilled too cause
the lawn isn’t almost as tall as she is now!
will work on the carbs too!

I was under the impression that lantus really doesn’t have a peak. From what I
read in package inserts, it lasts at a pretty constant level for most of 24
hours. Pat in ID

it actually goes up slightly during the first 6 hours. not like a rapid one
but slightly. here’s a link to the grapgh on their site:
