Diabetes & Byetta

My blood sugar has been nearly EXTREMELY since yesterday AM and will not
come down, my meter says to check for Keytones as well.
He did not want me to wait till my appt on Tuesday and had me come to the
office at 5:00 this evening.

I am taking 8 units of Nova log every 2 hrs to get to to come down, and will
have my Byetta raised to 10mg 2x a day, and add insulin once again.

Please keep me in your prayers that nothing is seriously wrong.

and supper. a few questions though.

i take the shots an hour before eating those 2 meals?

do i take my glucophage at the same time or wait an hour?

should i lower my 5 pm lantus dose tonight?

doctor never said anything about that to me. he spent more time dealing with
the lung/sinus issues.

What am i to expect when i start the 10 pen. I am doing really good
with the 5 for the month. But it is time to move on.

Am i not going to be hungry?

Am i going to be sick to my stomach?

Any other signs that i need to look for?

I see the dietian on Thurday the 27th.

so hubby works nights and on his nights off he sleeps till about 8 pm and
expects me to cook then. ok, not expects me to cook but wants to eat. i told
him since i am starting the byetta monday we could order in pizza. it was
fabulous! so good that this morning i had 2 square cut pieces for breakfast.

by 7:30 i was having=my second cup of coffee and boom! stomach churning,
nausea, run towards the bathroom…only made it to the kitchen garbage can.
pizza was not fabulous the second time around.

what the you know what? first off, i mentioned that i don’t like to throw
up. then there’s the fact that grandma is no longer with us. i went through
3 pregnancies and 3 bouts of morning sickness with avoiding the actual deed
for the most part. i freaked out…cried, screamed to wake the husband. he
thought i fell or something but when he saw it was just throwing up he gave
me some crackers and asked what caused it.

As you all know I have left several emails about needle phobia etc.
Someone left a message before about how painless it was after she
injected the byetta in the stomach. With all the problems I am having
with rashes, I finally got enough guts to try my stomach. I had been
on lantus before and I was a total wreck back in December. I have to
tell you that the injection in my arm burned all the time. I did not
feel anything in my stomach. Not the needle or the byetta. I am
hoping I do not develop red spots.

I don’t know, we said that Andrew was the lizardman. I hope I am not

My doctor gave me a prescription for byetta, which had a sticker on it
for 1 free pen from the drug company.

He then gave me a prescription to send for the 10 pen to my mail away
plan. He also gave me a box with a video in it on byetta. It also had
that coupon to get my free travel case from the company.

My doctor has been away since April 12 and will not return until the
24th. I am still having problems with the byetta and rashes. I
stopped it for a couple days. I used the benedryl on the injection
location. I called my primary doctor. She gave me clarinex and told
me to take 25millegrams of benedryl 1 hour before taking byetta. I
did that last night. I did not get itching, rash. I did not get
raised welts. I do have a red dot around the size of the dime is red
where I injected.

Welcome to the world of lizard spit!

I did not vomit, when put on the spit. I had a little nausea, some
people have a lot of nausea. When I got nausea I would take a pepcid.
It went away. Also, my doctor told me to eat half the amount of food.
I found that if I ate too much I would experience some nausea. It
actually makes sense, because the spit is suppose to slow down the
emptying of the stomach.
