Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] Byetta and Pregnancy…

Friday, February 13th, 2004

Sorry I do not have this problem that you are talking about. I would
suggest though you contact your doctor as if you are pregnant you do
not want to do harm to the baby. That could be worse than being
pregnant.

Oral med like Byetta

Friday, February 13th, 2004

A while back there was mention of an oral med that is similar in its action in
the body as Byetta. I need to know the name of this med as I will be traveling
soon and staying there for at least 3-4 months. Byetta is not sold there. Can
someone tell me the name of this med?

Thanks so much,

10 mcg pen

Thursday, February 12th, 2004

Up until yesterday I was still using my 5mcg pen and giving myself 2 injections
to get the 10 mcg dose.

Since starting the 10 mcg pen I’ve come to believe that there is something wrong
with it.

Without changing exercise or diet my BG is inching up.

I’ve been careful to push the needle in, press down, hold for a count of 20 and
then remove it.

Today when I took it out fluid started running down the needle. Bad news. I
guess I will see if my BG goes up after my meal and if so I will have to call
the Byetta company and ask them for a voucher for a different pen. :(

Injection site welts

Wednesday, February 11th, 2004

I’ve read a few of the archived posts on this subject and it looks like
the welts I’m getting may be similar to what other people are getting.
The injection site swells up to the size of an American dime or quarter
(coin) with a red dot in the middle where the needle went in. The welts
itch like crazy and so far they seem to last at least a week.

This started after I’d been on Byetta for several months. I’m on my
second 10 pen.

My endo has no idea what’s causing the welts, but she told me to stop
injecting until they go away and then start again to see if they come
back. What are other people’s doctors saying?

I wonder if whatever is causing the welts could trigger a full-blown
anaphylactic reaction.

Andrew,

This is the blog I found the information. You have to scroll down the
page to find where the thread begins but there is a lot of chatter on
this problem.

Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] Re: question blotch

Friday, February 6th, 2004

I was wondering if anyone had gotten a rash around the area of
injection. I use the upper part of my arm and have noticed that the
area is blotchy and it has raised bumps. I alternate arms. It seems
to be more of a blotch on one arm and the other just raised bumps a
littler red. When I press on the blotch it is a little sore. Anyone
have any ideas? or Has anyone ever experienced this? I am taking the
10 pen.

chromium

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2004

Like many things, if one has poor control any minor effect some things can
have are completely overwhelmed. Here is a recent article, requires one
time registration, no spam generated:

”Chromium Has No Effect in Patients With Poorly Controlled Diabetes’

"Contrary to expectations, high-dose chromium picolinate does not
improve glycemic control or other parameters in obese patients with
poorly controlled, insulin-treated type 2 diabetes, according to
findings published in the March issue of Diabetes Care."
