byetta and liver next question

Thursday, February 26th, 2004

i hope you all will be patient with me since i am new to this drug. last
night, i read in my local paper about how tylenol can cause liver failure
due to overdose (mostly accidental) like from taking tylenol for pain and
then taking another drug like a sinus or flu medicine that also contains
tylenol but not in the name (think they cited alka seltzer plus or something
like that).

but i was wondering if byetta slows the rate at which drugs and food leave
the stomach (am i even correct about this) then would one have to watch how
they take drugs like tylenol? or even an antibiotic? would it slow down the
half time (is that the correct term) of drugs?

new to list and lizard spit

Tuesday, February 24th, 2004

Welcome to the group, Codewriter. FWIW, not everyone experiences nausea
with the spit. I had a little nausea with my first 5mcg shot, then less
with the 2nd, then none. When I graduated to the 10mcg, I had very
little nausea with the first few doses, but experienced sleepiness for
two weeks. Hey, I needed the rest! LOL

question about lantus dose

Monday, February 23rd, 2004

hope you got my intro. anyone think i should lower my lantus dose before the
day before i start the byetta? i take the lantus at 5 pm and tend to wake
with fairly stable bg’s. it’s the 5 pm ones that are high! and honestly
that’s cause i eat all day long. hubby works nights so i am alone 5 nights
and mornings a week. if i get a low during the day i can handle it but don’t
know about during the night.

i think i’d be better off running a bit higher till i know how the byetta
will affect my levels.

A Breakfast Suggestion

Monday, February 23rd, 2004

Re: The puzzle for Breakfast. It seems that, at least for me, breakfast is
the show stopper. After you go through eggs, bacon, other fatty foods and your
taste buds rebel what to do. David Mendosa to the rescue. He, like me, usually

glucose meter that measures glucose from the white of the eye

Saturday, February 21st, 2004

FYI

Items for the Week: Blood Sugar Readings In A Painless Blink Of The
Eye by Oculir, Inc.
on Tuesday, April 18 @ 14:01:10 CDT

Oculir™ is developing a non-invasive glucose meter that measures
glucose from the white of the eye (the conjunctiva). No contact with
the eye is required; simply point the sensor at the eye and click.

The commercial version of the Oculir™ glucose sensor will be the size
of a cell phone. Oculir™ will succeed where others have failed by
using the best measurement wavelengths in the Mid IR combined with a
unique measurement site - the white of the eye.

Lows

Thursday, February 19th, 2004

Hey this is weird. Last two nights I’ve had lows, yesterday 41, tonight 42
on one meter 61 on another… Sheesh. Either way I have no idea what is
going on!
NEVER done this before.
I’m on the 10mcg Byetta, and 1500 Glucophage xR at dinner. Last night I took
the amaryl (just gotten it in) that I was supposed to add and figure THAT
was the problem. Then again tonight I went low and I DIDN’T take it.
I had oven fried chicken 1/2 an acorn squash and some salad last night.
And steak and 1/2 a yam and some beans tonight.
I figured without the Amaryl and the carbs of the yam and beans…. It would
be ok.
Mind you we’ve not been eating much ’starch’ carbs lately and I have been
ok.
What is going on!!!

Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] Re: 10 mcg pen

I get the clicks after I inject the needle into my skin.
I turn the arrow, then I turn the 10, then inject, as I inject I push
down and hear the 3 clicks. Is this what everyone else hears?

Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] 10 mcg pen

Saturday, February 14th, 2004

Marsha,

I am sorry you are having this problem with your 10 pen, but in the
same breath I am kind of glad. I have been experiencing the same thing
with my 10 pen. BG went up. I did better on the 5 pen. I am not
feeling the fullness either. I do not have any dripping of the needle
except once in a while I feel it on my skin. I have developed the rash
and bumps so I took myself off of byetta since Thursday to let my skin
get back to normal.

Actually, I do not check my bg like I should, so I was thinking it was
what I have been consuming. I have not gained any weight, I know I am
not eating a large amount of food, but I just thought maybe it was just
what I was eating. I really do not believe I am eating alot different
then when I was on the 5 pen. So, to hear this from someone else is
