Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] new …….rosy
Hi Rosy,
I can totally relate to you. I have been a diabetic for 2 1/2 years.
I tried a lot of medications too. I first started with the metformin
and micronase. I could not take either. I then was put on actos. It
caused severe nightmares, I would say more like night tremors. I then
tried amaryl. Of course all of these meds caused me to gain weight. I
then was put on lantus. I was ok but I was taking 86 units of lantus.
I then just got into a depression and could not inject myself anymore.
I did it for a bout 8 months. The needle freaks me out. I got so
depressed this past January and February that my sugar was over 500.
My primary doctor gave me an anti depressant to take called Lexapro. I
did not want to take this but I had no choice. I have been taking
Lexapro now since then. I felt better the first couple of days after
starting it. My doctor gave me the glucophage extended and I seem to
be able to take it. I am also on the amaryl. I was afraid to take
avandia because it is the same drug as actos and I could not go through
another night tremor. I had changed endo doctors too. This was also
the best thing for me. I could not even talk the first day I went to
him. I was extremely emotional and just blubbered. He kept me on the
metformin extended, amaryl, and started me on byetta. Although this is
injectable, I can not take it in my stomach. I take it in the upper
arm. My sugars are high in the morning, which my doctor may want me to
take lantus at night. I am not sure if I am ready yet for it, but I
hear they have a pen for lantus now. I have been telling my self that
I need to exercise but, it has not sunk in yet. I love getting emails
on diabetes because, I know it has kept me focus on trying better to
control. I actually think , without this support, I would not be as
good as I am. The people on this list are making me want to make a
difference in my life just by reading about their success and
knowledge. My diabetic trainer told me that you have to do something
3 months to make it a habit. I am making changes as I can handle
them. Not all at once. My next change is to exercise. Hang in there.
Maybe you may want to take something to get you out of the depressed
mode. It happens to a lot of diabetics I am told.
I lost about 3 lbs since on the byetta (2nd month) I was disappointed,
but my endo said you did not gain weight and that is good.
