A little of this, a little of that
Becca - welcome, from a fellow Texas resident. Please don’t chastise
yourself for your initial hesitancy. I was scared spitless (no pun
intended… well, maybe a little) just looking at those directions
and that pen and those needles and my poor frightened tummy.
Retrospectively I can admit to you now that it was not a good
decision on my part to wait weeks. It took only three days for me to
see a marked improvement, that continues. I hate thinking of how
much more damage I accumulated in those weeks of fear, because I
didn’t ask the right people, and didn’t have the info I needed to try
this magic treatment. I think it’s magic because it’s allowed me to
own this wretched disease rather than letting myself be a victim.
Andrew - thank you for your tasteful administration.
And also for the double dose info. Please let us all know
immediately if you get that whole lizard-eyeball-rolling-around-thing
because I think that a day or two of 360 degree vision is something I
would hate to miss. ![]()
I’ve graduated to 10mcg, will wait for a day off from work and school
and workII to try it, just in case.
Lastly (sorry for the extended post), TALK TO YOUR DOCS! I have been
sharing everything byetta with him, including this site. He told me
that as a result of his sharing this kind of info, another of his
patients he has been encouraging is excited to try it now, just
because he referred him here - and you all have done such an
outstanding job of support and encouragement.
Kudos to all of you regular contributors. I rarely post, but the
benefits of lurking have been invaluable.

Glad to hear that. Lizard Nausea has become my constant friend.
"You OK?"
"Yeh, Lizard’s kicking me in the guts again today."

Yesterday was the first day when I had no nausea! Woo hoo! I am on byetta
since the beginning of September and I had begun to give up hope. I had
very good bg’s today.

A tip I learned about the nausea…If you can find Ginger Altoids they really
help some people I had to search on line to find them, but they worked for me
so much better than anything else I tried. Tried Ginger tea too. That helped,
but not as much as the Altoids.
Love my Lizard!!! A1c at my 3 month check up this time was 5.9, weight loss,
16 pounds and this was with no change in my food plan. My doctor is working
with me to try to cut back even more on the Lantus.
Glad to hear that. Lizard Nausea has become my constant friend.

I saw my doctor on tuesday and he is doing the happy
dance for sure. i had lost another 15lbs, my HgA1c was
8.4. now i know 8.4 is way high, but when you consider
i started at 15.6, well it is almost miraculous. my
fasting glucose was 150,(last one was 274)and he is
just pickled tink. hehe. he left me on the levemir and
suggested that i could even try taking my glucovance
down even lower, to one pill a day intead of 2.(i
started at 3 a day and have been as high as 6 a
day)Sooo. still a lot to do, but quite an
accomplishment so far. best my sugars have been in 15
years
