When to take byetta and side effects
Tuesday, November 4th, 2003There has been considerable discussion about variations in taking byetta
relative to start of meals. In a recent research article it was reported
that taking it anytime from 60 minutes before until the start of a meal had
very similar post meal glucose results. Taking it 15 to 60 minutes after
the start had poorer results because the rise in insulin and level of
glucose were out of synch, including overshoots in insulin.
Side effects such as nausea etc. tended to be more related to post meal
use, as were lows. This might suggest taking it 1 hour before a meal if
one has side effects to see if they are less severe.
