Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] Avandia or Actos?
Edwina,
I went to the website Medscape.com someone posted a little more than a
week ago. It listed possible drug interactions with byetta.
Lisinipril was one listed. Digoxin, Lovastatin, and acetaminophen. I
think the acetaminophen, just means the effects are delayed or
something like that. I take tylenol because that is all my stomach
allows me to ingest. But, I wonder if you got a reaction because of
the byetta? You have to register on the site but it is free.

I take Lisopril and have never been told by the pharmacy there were any issues.
I know though we’re all different.

The reaction with lisinopril is that its effect is delayed by two hours when
taken with the byetta, but its efficiency is not affected. Pat in Idaho

Pat,
Someone posted a message that lisinipril is only a 2 hour delay
reaction. I guess they are just saying it to protect their butts.

The interaction is just a delay of two hours in when the lisinopril starts to
work IF it is taken at the same time as byetta. Its effects are not changed.

I looked at the posting on Medscape.com and that was the into available. I have
been using lisinopril since April and Byetta since December with no problems. I
do take the lisinopril in the evening away from the byetta, but that’s because I
take Lovastatin then as well and Byetta has been shown to reduce the
effectiveness of Lovastatin by 40% is take at the same time. Taking them
together means I am more likely to remember to take them. Pat in Idaho

in some of the byetta litereature i read the same
thing regarding tylenol. they didn’t say not to take
it, they advised taking it 2 hours prior to byetta so
that it would absorb.

Dale… thank you for the link. I am registered at Medscape and hadn’t thought
to look there. You’re right, it may be something with the Byetta and the
Lisinopril… just not sure. I’m on so darned many meds that could interact
with each other. I HATE taking all of these meds, but have been told each one
is necessary and I’m afraid to quit them. It was my Endocrinologist that
started me on the Byetta and he insists that it was not that. All 3 doctors,
Internist, Endo and Allergist… all pointed to the Lisinopril and the effect it
can have on Diabetics that must use diuretics. I swear, you don’t know what to
believe any more! Edwina
