Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] new but old member returning….

Friday, October 17th, 2003

I had nightmares, which were really like night tremor when I was on
Actos. I stopped it and so did the night tremors. I did have a
nightmare the other night, but I can not specifically say it was from
byetta. 1 time out of 3 1/2 weeks.

new but old member returning….

Friday, October 17th, 2003

Hi all,

I was one of the members of the list at the very beginning - not all
that long ago - but left when my doctor and I decided to try symlin.
Well, that two month experiment last fall wasn’t a success, and after
a couple of months and an a1c that rose to 7 from 6.4, we decided to
try byetta. I’ve finished about ten days on the 5mcg dose. In many
ways it’s like symlin, but if I’m careful with my dinner carbs -
sticking to veggies and salad and a sugar free ice cream bar for
dessert, my BG goes down or hovers in the 80s or 90s for the rest of
the night and I wake up with a decent number. I do have to be a bit
careful of going low at times, though.

About me: I was diagnosed type 2 in 11/03, put on glucatrol and
metformin, then also avandia. Went on insulin in 6/04 by choice as

Roy,

Also, the dietician said that magnesium and chromimum picolanate (I
know I spelled it wrong) should help lower sugar too.

Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] Carb Help Please - ROY

Wednesday, October 15th, 2003

Roy,

I was just given the glycemic index diet by my dietician yesterday. I
am not sure how to scan it into my computer. If my daughter can show
me, I would gladly send it to you. If you have a fax number, I can fax
it to you too.
Send me the number to my personal email address. She told me you can
lose something like 10 pounds in 3 or 4 weeks.

well i had some encouraging test results last night. I
am very insulin resistant as most of you know and have
a very hard time getting my sugar under control. i
have also been struggleing with all the nausea and
vomiting i have had for the last4 months. i don’t test
regularly because i don’t have the resources available
to buy strips(working on that though) anyway. i was at
my mom’s last night and decided to check my sugar
while i was there. this was after i had eaten dinner.
my sugar was 138!!!!i am used to fasting sugars of
600!! currently i am taking glucovance 2.3/500 three a
day and levemir 20 units at night. (was on lantus 60
at n ight) so this is a huge improvement for me. i
have also lost around 30 lbs. gives me the strenght to
put up will all the nausea and vomiting

Antibiotic found to cause blood-sugar ailments in seniors

Sunday, October 12th, 2003

I thought this was interesting. I didn’t realize an antibiotic would do
this. ~Janie

"Elderly patients taking the widely used antibiotic gatifloxacin were
almost 17 times as likely to be hospitalized for very high blood sugar
levels and four times as likely to be hospitalized for unusually low
levels, a finding that is leading some physicians to call for the drug’s
withdrawal from the market."

I take the glucophage extended with no problem. I could not take the
regular glucophage. I had stomach issues.

Fwd: [Diabetes_And_Byetta] My doctor’s visit today re: Byetta usage

Thursday, October 9th, 2003

I saw my doctor today too. I have been taking my byetta right before I
eat my meal. He suggested that I wait 15 minutes then eat. He said
that patients have reported better weight loss. I just hope I do not
get nausea from waiting. I will let everyone know, as I want to lose
weight. I have had high blood pressure since I have been 21. I have
not been able to use products to help me feel full, because of it
either. I’ll get by with a little help of my friend (lizzard spit)
lol.

link that was posted about byetta

Wednesday, October 8th, 2003

Someone sent an email yesterday with a link about byetta. It had the
drug interaction information on that link. I discarded the email and
wanted to look at it again. Could you re post it or send it to me
privately.
