problems eating. I have developed reflux and am on prevacid. However,
I am having trouble eating. I can have very simple food like carbs.
Whenever I try to eat protein, I gte sick.

I know lizard spit has helped me regulate my sugar.

But what am I supposed to eat.

Please Help Me.

    Hi Joan,

As I understand it, a problem or blessing, depending upon how it is viewed, is
that byetta causes the stomach to delay emptying. If you already have delayed
stomach emptying then the further delay probably contributes to the reflux you
are experiencing. When my granddaughter had reflux the solution was to give her
medications to cause the stomach to empty so that she could digest foods
    normally.

From what I have read on the manufacturer’s site byetta is not recommended for
persons who have significant (or is it severe?) gasteroparesis. Since I have
problems with delayed stomach emptying (gasteroparesis) already that is one (of
several) reservations I have about trying it - although I am discussing it with
    my doctor tomorrow.

One trick for helping the stomach to empty is to chew sugarless gum to help
peristalsis. It is something Bernstein recommends.

I hope someone else here can help you who is on byetta. My only suggestion is
to eat very small amounts of fish, tofu or other light protein products that are
not has difficult to digest as red meats and the like. I also take prevacid at
times. I find that the less I eat at one sitting the easier it is to deal with
gasteroparesis - which seems to be a result of damage to the nerves controlling
the stomach (or so I hear).

By cutting my intake radically to less than 1000 calories a day and my carbs
radically (less than 30) and eating in very small portions I’m experiencing
fewer stomach problems. If I do go on byetta I’m not sure what happens then.
Guess that is a bridge to cross when I come to it.

    Good fortune to you.

Joan, My name is Arla and I have been on for 1 mo, just switched to
10 this morning in fact. I have also had a lot of difficulty with
nausea, some vomiting and acid stomach. The same thing has happened
to me, I can eat fruit, carbs, and slim fast shakes without getting
sick, protein and fat kill me. I have actually ended up eating like
the old rice diet, fruit, whole grains, vegies and potatos in small
amounts and this has helped a lot. I have discovered that i really
need to limit my portions, if I get too full, I’ve had it and am sick
the rest of the day. Hope that helps
    Arla
