Yes, that is our John Dodson who does live in Felton, CA. Quite a
difference pre and post byetta!
I thought this was a pretty good article, except for one thing. Amylin,
who has also developed symlin, to be used with insulin, is researching it
as a weight loss drug. I wondered why there was no mention of it all.
Oh, how I envy the people like John and others here for whom it has been
a life changer. Do you think I could arrange to ship you some of my
pounds, and you can get rid of them with byetta? :-}
I have been away during the time of the production of the article in the NY
Times. I have read a few comments on line and appreciate the responses. It is a
remarkable article I think because it presents Byetta from a patient point of
view as well as the physician. Also handled a lot of material very well so
the ordinary person could understand. I thought it was brilliant to put it in
the center of the front page of the Business section. Many saw it who wouldn’t
usually look at Health Section. And yes, those are my hands on the front page.
The photographer spent a couple of hours with me and used only two photos, the
other one was one I supplied. I don’t have any of when I was really obese
because I didn’t want any photos. Now I am sorry I didn’t make one but who could
have known.
What pleased me was that they used at least two members from our form that I
know of. I don’t know who the woman was who is quoted at the end. I thought it
was a fair and balanced article, of course I could be accused of some bias. I
hope it will help others to learn more about the treatment option and give
