Was asked to pass this on…

Hi Melissa,

Thanks for sharing your Byetta experiences with me — I really
appreciate the background info. If you know of anyone taking Byetta
that would be interested in being in our piece, please pass my info
on to them. I am also looking to speak with someone who was involved
in the Exubera inhaled insulin clinical trial or who is interested in
trying it — please pass along an recommendations that you have.

Yet another question from me…..

How long do you generally use the #5 Byetta before graduating to #10?

Introductions

Wednesday, August 27th, 2003

I don’t know if I ever sent in an intro so here goes. I was
diagnosed 4 years ago. I actually had had some sugar issues after
eating but my fasting’s were good before that time. Only problem is
it was never explained to me what was going on, I was just told to
"stay away from the sweets". I don’t know if I had understood
earlier if I could of or would of taken heed but, I’m sorry I never
got the chance.

I have a long history of diabetes on both sides of my family. My
maternal GF died of complications from diabetes and on my maternal
side all 3 of his brothers had diabetes so as an endo told me once it
wasn’t a question of IF for me it was only a question of WHEN. My
brother was diagnosed a couple years before me. I still have a
sister that has no problems yet.

New to the whole thing

Sunday, August 17th, 2003

About a month ago I was diagnosed with Type 2, and have been on glucophage
since. My bg readings are all over the place and I go back to the Doc on
Friday. When I spoke to her nurse the other day and said I’d like to try Byetta,
the nurse said that usually they try other things before going to the Byetta,
but I’m going to try to talk her into going straight for it. Have any of you
gone on it this soon after being diagnosed?
I’ve gained weight since starting the glucophage and I really can’t afford that
- as I’m about 100 pounds overweight as it is.

homeopathy

Saturday, August 16th, 2003

Not to put too sharp a point on it, but the basic truth claims of
homeopathy can not be validated as to its reality in biochemistry nor is
there but the weakest almost nonexistent support for it being effective in
spite of its lack of demonstrated truth claims. Other then that, it is just
fine.

I am devastatted

Saturday, August 16th, 2003

I am so sad.
My endo put me on Byetta last November. For a month & a half things
looked great.
My BS readings were great even my highest fasting numbers were only
127. I had no nausea & lost 17lbs.
Then the things went downhill.
With the new year came new problems. I started getting severe nausea
with vomiting with each injection. So severe I was prescribed
phenergrin (sp) but the nausea & vomiting continued. I never made it
to the 10mg I was always on the 5mg.
The nausea & vomitting were so severe my body was depleted of all
its vitamin D. I am now on a 15 week course of perscription vitamin
D replacement.
Last Friday when I saw my endo he said my body cannot tolerate
Byetta & he has taken me off of it. He said it is rare for people to

i was looking on needymeds.com today and under programs for specific diseases
there is a program for diabetes. you have to call them and they will send you an
application. if you quialify(no insurance, medicaid, medicare etc) they will
send you either a freestyle flash, or one of 2 other meters (you choose which
you want) and testing supplies for a year. i just thought i would pass this info
on in case there was anyone in the same shoes i am in. hope this info is helpful
to someone
