Dust Allergies and Diabetes?

The past few days I’ve been carrying out a massive housecleaning attack
on my apartment. Consequently, I’ve been exposed to a lot of dust
mites, and my dust allergy has kicked in big time. My morning blood
sugars have been very bad. Since allergies and Type II diabetes are
both autoimmune conditions, I’m beginning to suspect that having
allergic reactions can make diabetes worse. Anyone experienced
anything like this?

How prescient of you to post this. I am dealing with
high BG’s for the last 24 hours and for the last 3
days the pollen counts have risen (I get an email when
they are high) and my allergies are actively bothering
    me.

I DO NOT have a cold, and none of my kids are sick. I
have been known to spike BG’s when I am fighting a
    virus.

OH! And I have been exercising every night for 4
nights! Treadmill work including some jogging! (Big
deal for a 5′9" 254 pounder) This should help lower my BG’s.

It’s either the allergies or I have destroyed YET

ANOTHER pen of Byetta. I am very very careful with
    it.

I think I may go rent a steam cleaner and scald all the dust mites to
death. Then we’ll see what happens with my blood glucose.

Well, I had three days exposure to dust while I did housecleaning, and
my BGs were 173, then 163, then 144. I raised my lantus dosage from
126 to 132 at that point. Next day with no dust exposure it was 112,
and after a second day with no dust exposure, I just tested 72. I’m
DEFINITELY going to rent a carpet steamer.
