longer-acting Byetta

Thursday, April 17th, 2003

This is an article in Bussiness week Mag.

I wonder when they might release the 1 a week shot

Angela in Iowa

Graham already has her scientists working on an improved version of
Byetta, which may have to be injected only once a week, as opposed to
twice a day. And the drug may offer an additional benefit: In August
the company announced that in an early clinical trial, patients taking
the longer-acting drug lost an average of nine pounds.

Long-acting version

Does anybody know if the long-acting formula for Byetta will be any
different than the current one? I hear it’s a thick formula, but that
sounds like it’ll hurt. Did they say anything about this in the trials
so far?

Thanks.

obtaining sharps containers

Monday, April 14th, 2003

I was getting my containers at one pharmacy which was a mail order one and my
insurance which is Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC paid for them. Now I had to
change my pharmacy to a local one for other reasons and they say that insurance
won’t pay for it. Of course, I’m going to check with BCBSNC about this, but in
the meantime, I wanted some opinions or ideas about this. I was thinking that

Meds and weight loss

Saturday, April 12th, 2003

I keep reading how many of you are losing weight as you decrease your
meds with Byetta.

I am on 2000 Metformin, 45 Actos and Glipizide (can’t remember the
dose………½ tab twice a day)
It seems like I am reading about better weight loss when Actos is
stopped. Any truth to this?

I lost about 10 lbs initially with Byetta, but I have not been losing
for the past couple of months and my appetite is back
up……especially after the holidays. I wm wondering if dropping the
Actos will help me?

Any one have experience with this?

dispose of after 30 days

Thursday, April 10th, 2003

I have read that the insulin companies state to dispose of the insulin
after 30 days to cover their butts incase it should lose potency or go
bad. In most cases the bottle is still good. I am using a bottle of
Novolog that I started using about 45 days ago and it is still just as
good as when I first used it.

You will know if the stuff is off after using it a couple of times*G*
It is too expensive to throw out if it is still good, thats for sure!

cutting back on your dosage

Wednesday, April 9th, 2003

Hi, just wondering with the talk of cutting back on the dosage or only taking
Byetta once a day instead of the prescribed 2 times daily, what happens when
your pen has been in use more that 30 days? It says throw away after one month,
but if you cut back, then by the end of the month, you’ll have more Byetta
remaining. What do you do?
