I know we just had this discussion but my memory is "out to lunch" so I need
a refresher. Can you keep Byetta unrefigerated a total of 6 hours or 6 days
over the period of 30 days?

144 hours. Let’s see. 24 goes into 144 exactly 6 times, so it’s 6 days.
BTW, I received the book of your beautiful photos. Thank you!

It is 6 hours in a 30 day period. At least that is what my Dr. told me
and also what the video said that came with my first pen.

When I called in to the toll free number and asked they said it isn’t
something they like to encourage but it is 6 days or a total of 144 hours.
She also says it will degrade more if that time were continous and not in
short spells. So six days straight is probably worse for it then 144 hours,
an hour or two at a time. And it applys anytime it is out of that 10 degree
range of 36 to 46. So we all need a good thermometer for our fridge. She
also said not to forget to allow for the time it takes to get it to
distibution centers and then to the individual drug stores so it was her
advice we just keep it in range at all times as much as possible. She
suggested a cold pack or a Frio.

Does anyone have an idea for a really small cooler for the pen? Also I
never got a welcome kit from byetta and I can’t seem to find a place to
sign up on the web.
Thanks.

What about a Frio? They come in all sizes including one made for insulin
pens and you can find them by doing a web search and on ebay.

It’s not listed (at least not anywhere I could tell) on the main web page, but I
think the address is www.byetta.com/welcome. I had to call the 800 number to get
my welcome kit.

Thanks to you who answered my questions. I have another one. How are
people dealing with the dawn phenomenon? Last night before bed (took
byetta with dinner) I was at 102 and this morning 333!!! Is anyone having
a similar experience?
Thanks.

Jane, my morning readings are in the 120s, which is higher than my
doctor wants them to be. I may have to add something back in to adjust
for that, but I’m not going to do anything for a few months and let all
the med changes I’m making shake themselves down.

Debra, you asked about the Frio. I have one and love it. Used it for
Lantus and Humalog and it’s easy to "recharge" by soaking it in water.
But it doesn’t hold the temperature in the right range for Byetta. I am
going to experiment with mine further - maybe putting ice in it with the
pen might work. But don’t go buy one just for the Byetta because it
won’t get the temperature low enough.

I got mine in two weeks, which surprised me. It’s sitting in the fridge
and I’m going to test the temperature today by letting it sit on my counter.

I tested the temperature in my kit yesterday, using the two fridge
packets they sent. The temp only lasted for a little over an hour. I
like the kit so I’ll experiment with a way to make the temperature last
longer.

i used my welcome kit so i could shoot up right after church last night. i
brought the kit into an air conditioned building for about an hour and a half
and when i went to do my shot it didn’t seem cold hardly at all. i didn’t use a
thermometer just by feel it didn’t feel cold. i need something that would keep
it cold 6-8 hours. any thoughts?
